Cat Thomas (C. Thomas Howell) is a janitor in a ruined LA building and finds his old friend Harry (Lawrence Dobkin) dead in the bathtub, so he thinks that he killed him himself. But when a new lodger, Matthew Manus (Jeff Fahey), takes the dead man's apartment, Cat smells trouble and crime. So Jane (Rae Dawn Chong) and Cat are peeking the fellow's movements because he is a killer, and the target is in the building across the street...
